More than a third of agricultural companies in Ukraine use artificial intelligence tools in one way or another. This is shown by the results of the “Digital Agro 2026. Technologies that move farmers from the fields to the offices” study, presented by Stanislav Shum, Director of the agri-media and educational platform Aggeek, at the Agro Ukraine Summit, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Shum, compared with other industries, AI’s impact on the agricultural sector is still more modest. At the same time, more than 30% of producers are already using such tools in their day-to-day work — mostly for targeted tasks rather than for making professional agronomic decisions.
What slows down adoption
In agriculture, data for training algorithms accumulates much more slowly than in most industries. In addition, farmers are not always willing to rely on information collected from other farms. Because of this, the use of AI for professional agronomic recommendations remains limited.
Where AI is being used
— 52% of companies already working with AI do so through Telegram bots
— 30% use it for yield forecasting
— 16% use it for assessing disease and pest risks
— 8% each use it for defining sowing zones and planning crop protection product applications
— only 3% use it for harvest planning and logistics
In addition, 46% of agricultural producers plan to implement so-called AI agents.
The sector’s level of digitalization
The study also records a high level of digital practices on farms. The most widespread solutions are GPS monitoring of machinery (88% of respondents), satellite monitoring of crop development (81%), Farm Management Systems (80%), autopilots (80%), navigation systems (75%), and the use of drones for crop protection applications (60%).
How agricultural drones are used
Agricultural drones are most often used for desiccation (42% of respondents), insecticide application (30%), fungicide application (29%), and field monitoring (27%). They are used by 18% of companies for herbicide application and by 8% for fertilizer feeding.
Study methodology
“Digital Agro 2026. Technologies that move farmers from the fields to the offices” was prepared by the Aggeek platform with the participation of 50 innovative agricultural companies cultivating more than 2.2 million hectares (about 10% of the country’s farmland), as well as 2,000 online survey participants.
